The continuous improvement product engineer is responsible for utilizing customer and manufacturing feedback to continually improve product performance, while driving down costs. Provides engineering product support to sales and manufacturing. Participates in the mechanical design, leads value engineering/value analysis efforts and ensures production procedures by utilizing materials and personnel. Oversees finished product quality and recommends changes to product specifications as necessary.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: All duties and responsibilities are essential functions of the position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Able to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams and suppliers to define, design and deliver new products, technical solutions, and enhancements that work cohesively and meet the needs of the company, its clients, and the end users.
  • Improves product designs using Creo, Ansys Mechanical, MathCAD and excel software.
  • Provides customer support in escalated cases.
  • Uses engineering and problem solving principles to resolves field or quality problems.
  • Develop standards and documentation for product designs.
  • Creatively design products to enhance performance and optimize cost.
  • Identifies and leads continuous product improvement efforts.
  • Design for manufacturing in all cases.
  • Utilize current product standards as a baseline to design cost effective engineered specials to meet customer specifications.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.

Education and Experiences

  • Strong understanding of the general mechanical engineering principles, specifically Fluid Mechanics.
  • 3D CAD design software (CREO preferred).
  • Ability to specify materials.
  • Strong understanding of stress, strain and strengths evaluation methods to assure product durability.
  • Casting design, machining, fabrication and ceramics knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Willing to travel (up to 10%) in support of problem resolution and customer jobs.
  • 0-5 years engineering work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
