The Material Handler position is responsible for delivery of production materials including, but not limited to; raw material, fixturing, tooling, inspection instruments and other components required for the manufacturing processes. They will ensure that all equipment and materials are delivered in a secure, safe manner. As orders are time sensitive, it is imperative that the material handler can work autonomously and adhere to the sequence of demand to maximize the utilization of machine and personnel resources. This type of work will be done in a fast-paced setting on the shop floor in a manufacturing environment.
Duties & Responsibilities: All duties and responsibilities are essential functions of the position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
- Daily Inventory Management: consisting of but not limited to-transporting material to the appropriate department. Storing product into the appropriate bins/shelves. Verifying the correct quantities received and/or delivered per the paperwork.
- Identifying waste and ideas/solutions to streamline the inventory management role.
- “Kitting” of jobs for Machine Shop Resources. Coordinating all of the components necessary for FIFO lane development based on our Velocity Scheduling System.
- Retrieves, stores and issues equipment, material, supplies and tooling
- Verify that complete contents of an order are included and are in conformance to specifications
- Adherence to a strict schedule to ensure all orders are fulfilled in sequence of demand
- Perform computer transactions using our ERP and Warehouse Storage systems
- Load, unload and transport materials is a safe manner using lift truck, hand truck and other material handling devices
- Work in a time sensitive, fast paced environment
- Work individually, and as part of a team
- Use overhead cranes to lift, move, and manipulate larger parts
- Ability to use a PC in a limited capacity
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
- Strict adherence to quality standards and ability to ensure they meet customer requirements and company standards
Education and Experiences
- High School/GED
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control to maximize the efficiency of our manufacturing and the distribution of materials
- Controlling operations of equipment and systems
- Experience using a tow motor is preferred
