Fives ST Corp., a member of the Fives Group of companies (www.fivesgroup.com) and an international player in Process Engineering, Consultation and Process System Supply, has an immediate opening for a Logistics Specialist to be responsible for arranging, managing and tracking the land, air and sea shipment of equipment and supplies to the proper destination. The successful candidate will be assigned to and work out of our offices in Wadsworth, Ohio.
The Logistics Specialist will collect information, consolidate and organize shipments for various projects. Primary responsibility will be for the goods related to the products designed, specified and purchased by Fives ST but this assignment will also work closely with the logistics teams at the other Fives Steel division facilities in Europe. This person will be reporting to the Fives ST Purchasing Manager. This role will involve daily interface with Fives’ personnel both within the Fives ST office, counterparts at the appropriate Fives entity within the Fives Steel Group, purchasing, logistics and project management.
Primary objective is to be the contact within Fives ST for all things related to logistics.
Scope and Responsibilities:
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Participate in the estimation of budget forecasts, bring its expertise in the drafting of contractual terms related to shipments and analyze the impacts in customs matters.
- Supports purchasing in negotiations with freight carriers in an attempt to reduce costs or to achieve more favorable terms
- Manage logistic service providers that provide transport, storage and warehouse functions
- Set up internal procedures to reduce the risks associated with the import/export operations
- Receive and track bookings/orders, sending shipping instructions according to project team instructions or established SOP’s
- Process Custom Entries, i.e. classify invoice, file RLF entries, and enter electronic invoices
- Review and prepare documentation with accuracy on every detail and aspect, not limited to but including Customs classification, I.T. number, commercial invoices, details, etc.
- Ensure that all operations are maintained in compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations
- Perform Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification reviews, verifications of customs value
- Maintain KPI’s for customs brokers & forwarders
- Monitor Freight Forwarder export compliance, report findings to management and assist with corrective actions
- Check Customs release details and ensure any discrepancies are handled properly
- The management of potential disputes related to shipments.
- Answer all customer requests in accordance with our company standards and guidelines
- Monitor closely any shipments moving and provide release, payment and delivery instructions within the allotted free time
- Review of freight related invoices from transportation providers to verify, clarify, correct content and approve for payment.
Education and Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation/ Logistics or equivalent; or six to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years of experience in Logistics related to land and sea freight for delivery of goods inside the USA.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP
- Familiarity with the steel industry is a plus
