Field Service Support is a key Customer touch point in the Fives go to market strategy. Ensuring that the customer has a positive experience during commissioning, trouble shooting and post sale are key points in the Sales Process to be managed.
The Field Service Engineer is the primary interface with Customers requiring service on their property and therefore must have well-developed analytical, technical and people skills to excel in the position. The Technician frequently deals with Customers facing emergency problems and unplanned shutdowns requiring immediate action and resolution.
The Engineer performs technical tasks on site necessary to commission new equipment, troubleshoot or tune existing equipment, and provide training to customer personnel.
The Engineer will be responsible for evaluating the customers thermal process equipment to identify further service and maintenance, hardware and material sales. These opportunities will be recorded using the companies internal process for record keeping, estimating and procurement.

- Availability to travel, up to 80%
- Travel as required, including on weekends and holidays.
- Analyze the customer site situation, assemble information from the customer regarding the open issues, and assemble a plan to remedy the same.
- Responsible for commissioning, tuning, and trouble-shooting a variety of combustion systems.
- May be asked to conduct on-site customer training or seminar(s).
- Expected to be the top site expert on applicable NFPA standards and associated combustion, fluid flow and piping components.
- Be able to navigate through PLC and HMI programs; making program changes with supervision of the Controls group.
- Identify code compliance deviations and draft Code Compliance Letters as required.
- Offer technical support to customers while in the office.
- Assist with training less-experienced Engineers/Technicians in complexities associated with the position.
- Provide support to customers as directed by the Field Service Manager.
- Manage their time on-site to meet project expectations. This may include re-organizing tasks to meet site conditions.
- Function in accordance with OSHA, industry standards, NACS specific and customer site specific safety standards
- Function in strict accordance within the guidelines of NACS ISO14001 and 9001 policies
- Assigning quotes, setting up project folders, estimating, generating proposals, JSA’s, project books for field services
- Supporting external and internal sales opportunities
Education and Experiences
- Work experience with equipment troubleshooting or commissioning a plus
- Demonstrated hands on mechanical and electrical system work
- Good computer literacy – Microsoft Office
- Business skills, management, budgeting and analysis.
- Understanding of reading drawings and developing BOM’s for costing
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and manage, self-managed with ability to set goals
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead change through continuous improvement programs
- Must have Experience developing meaningful goals to provide functional area improvements.
- 3 years’ experience in related field, or combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial process control or directly related field.
- The preferred candidate will be knowledgeable of industrial processes and proficient in sales methodologies.
- Bachelor's Degree in electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation engineering.
