Job content

The Category Buyer will:

·        manage a portfolio of direct suppliers in line with the Procurement strategy

·        deliver internal customer satisfaction through the provision of parts and services to cost, time and quality requirements

Main duties and responsibilities:

·        Procure parts/services at the required quality and cost within sufficient lead-times to ensure an on-time build

·        Build a strategic plan within their category area to ensure all business stakeholders (Engineering, Aftermarket, Assembly, Operations etc.) and internal customers are satisfied

·        Review and develop existing suppliers, negotiate contracts, improve payment terms and look for long term partnerships with year on year cost improvements

·        Negotiate and agree commercial terms through the Fives Purchase and Supply Agreement and in compliance with Fives Directives

·        Place and expedite orders

·        Update and maintain accurate data on Purchasing systems ( SAP and IUNGO)

·        Monitor supplier performance including development plans and reviews

·        Report KPIs in line with deadlines

·        Deal with supplier enquiries and invoice queries

·        Develop strategic supplier base from within BCC; research and implement cost reduction initiatives

·        Be open to change and continuous improvement

·        Participate in a spirit of cooperation with other teams, working together to deliver customer satisfaction

·        Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested

Education and Experiences

·        Proven experience of tactical (and ideally strategic) procurement

·        Able to build positive relationships externally and internally

·        Experience within a manufacturing/engineering environment

·        Strong negotiator and influencer; excellent written and verbal communication skills

·        Confident with figures

·        Ability to work independently and self sufficiently

·        Good understanding of structured procurement processes and systems

·        CIPS qualification, ideally

·        Has a continuous improvement attitude and able to adapt to change

·        Understanding and previous experience of using SAP and, ideally, IUNGO

·        Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint

·        Fluency in written and spoken English

·        Permission to work in the UK
