This positions primary responsibility is to procure materials or other goods and/or coordinates activities involved with purchasing products and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising. They will receive and review requisitions requesting goods or services.
Communicates with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. They will also expedite orders and requests as needed.
The Buyer will be responsible for answering vendor questions and providing them with additional order documentation as needed. The successful candidate for this position has experience in the manufacturing industry and a strong understanding of supply chain management concepts.

Duties & Responsibilities: All duties and responsibilities are essential functions of the position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
- Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.
- Prepares purchase orders in Oracle or bid requests.
- Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Maintains procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
- Acts as a liaison between manufacturing/engineering and the supplier
Communicate delivery information between the supplier and internal customers (Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing). - Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- Keeps abreast of market trends, changes in business practices in the assigned markets, new or altered types of materials entering the market, etc.
- Work with manufacturers or persuade potential vendors to undertake the manufacturing of custom-designed items according to user's specific needs and specifications.
- Approve invoices for payment.
- Expedite delivery of goods to users.

- Assess demand for categories of responsibilities
- Issue purchase orders to suppliers
- Issue acknowledgements
- Work with suppliers to ensure goods are delivered timely and accurateley
- Identify and develop new suppliers
- Work with the inventory management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back-ordered or missing products

Education and Experiences
- 5-10 years experience
- Ability to work well with a team
- Able to interact with all levels of the organization
- Strong negotiating skills
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with importing into the US and familiarity with INCO terms
- Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word and industry standard purchase order software platforms
- Experience with Oracle ERP is highly desirable, but not required.
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to read bills of material and routings
- Experience in manufacturing - job processing, shop floor management, manufacturing processes - helpful
- Integrity: Deal with others in a straightforward and honest manner, accountable for actions, maintaining confidentiality and supporting company values.
- Experience in procurement of Electronics, Ceramics, and Refractory is preferred, but not required.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish / English) is preferred but not required.
