We are seeking a motivated and technically driven Sales Engineer to join our team in Wadsworth, Ohio. This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys working directly with customers, solving technical challenges, and supporting heavy industrial equipment in the steel manufacturing industry.
Position Summary
The Sales Engineer is responsible for developing and supporting aftermarket sales opportunities, including spare parts, technical services, upgrades, retrofits, and maintenance solutions for installed equipment. This role works closely with customers, engineering teams, and service personnel to identify customer needs, provide technical recommendations, and deliver responsive support.
This position requires frequent travel to customer sites throughout North America, with occasional international travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sales opportunities for spare parts, service agreements, upgrades, retrofits, and technical support solutions
- Support and grow existing customer relationships by understanding equipment performance, maintenance requirements, and operational challenges
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals, including scope development, quotations, and cost estimates
- Respond to customer inquiries, RFQs, and urgent service needs in a timely and professional manner
- Conduct customer site visits, equipment inspections, and troubleshooting support activities
- Collaborate with engineering and service teams to develop practical and cost-effective solutions
- Present technical recommendations and clearly communicate product and service value to customers
- Maintain accurate records of opportunities, quotations, and customer interactions within company systems
- Support project execution through effective communication and coordination with internal teams
- Gather customer feedback and communicate recurring issues, market trends, and competitive insights
Preferred Experience
- 3+ years experience in aftermarket sales, field service, or maintenance support within heavy industrial or manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with steel mill equipment and processes
- Experience with installed base equipment, spare parts identification, and retrofit solutions
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and equipment documentation
Travel Requirements
- Frequent travel up to 60%, including domestic and occasional international travel
- Flexibility to respond to urgent customer needs and short-notice travel requirements

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent industry experience
- Strong mechanical and/or process knowledge related to industrial equipment and manufacturing systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
- Ability to safely work in heavy industrial and steel manufacturing environments
