Fives Landis Corp – Gardner Abrasives is actively seeking a Chemist to join its team in South Beloit, Illinois.

Gardner Abrasives has been a global leader in high-precision abrasive grinding wheels since 1905 and is part of Fives Landis Corp the High Precision Machines Division of Fives specializing in the design and supply of various types of machines for numerous markets such as Automotive, Aerospace, Defense, Rail, Shipbuilding, Energy, Space, etc.
The division has approximately 1,800 employees worldwide working in about 20 locations in Asia, Europe, and North America.

Salary Range: 55K – 65K (salary is determined by experience)
At Gardner Abrasives we all have a part to play in achieving our common purpose. Your role as a Chemist will be to:
- Perform testing on In-House blended materials for consistency and provide appropriate adjustments when needed.
- Assist in formulation of products and provide information to manufacturing team.
- Mix, mold, and press sample products (lab bars) for testing.
- Assist in the development of new products.
- Operate United Testing Machine, Grindo-Sonic machine, XRF, FTIR, and other lab equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance of lab equipment, calibrations, and analysis on finished products related to manufacturing or customer problems.
- Support and participate in the ISO 9001 and 14001 process.
- Provide assistance with testing existing and new products.
- Maintain accurate records and data of all tests and inspections.
At Gardner Abrasives and under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor, you will join the Quality Control team.

We are seeking a candidate who has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry/physical science field, and a minimum of 0-3 years of experience preferred. Required strong oral & written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint a plus. If you are a self-starter, able to work independently and work within a team setting, then we are eager to change the world with you!
