Fives BRONX is actively seeking a permanent position Mechanical Design Engineer to join its teams in North Canton, Ohio.

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who has the same desire to prove that industry can do it!

Position Summary

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical components and systems for our projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, proficiency in Autodesk CAD software, and a passion for innovation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging projects and contribute to the success of our organization.

Key Functions, Skills, & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and perform analysis to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.
  • Create detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Prototype and test designs to validate performance and functionality.
  • Identify and resolve design issues and implement design improvements as necessary.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for production.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years of heavy industrial equipment design experience  or 10+ years of relevant heavy industrial equipment design experience required.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion 360).
  • Experience in Tube Mill and/or Steel Mill equipment design preferred. Experience in the design of heavy industrial equipment in other related industries will be considered.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a plus.
  • Experience with GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) & general mechanical tolerancing required.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials (machining, casting, forging, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Reporting

  • This position reports to the Director of Operations.

Travel

<10% Travel required typically to customer offices or production locations, Fives production locations, etc...
