Mechanical Engineer

THE MISSION :

Technical (20%)

  • Develop knowledge in all aspects of FIVES equipment and services (mechanical, electrical, automation).
  • Develop knowledge of Solidworks CAD and analysis systems (preferred).

Services (30%)

  • Develop increased design and manufacturing autonomy
  • Provide technical assistance (both on-site and off) to our clients. (Tomago Aluminium, Boyne Smelters etc)

Localisation (5%)

  • To support the procurement team in achieving objectives of standardisation and 60 % localisation of parts, which can be manufactured in Australia FIVES Group approval. (Exceptions: safety, materials unavailability, price due to tools / jig availability, drawing availability). Develop tools and procedures to enable procurement team to source local spares without engineering assistance when applicable.

Project Engineering (20%)

  • Manage engineering projects from conceptualisation though to completed design and development. Management of sub-contractor design and manufacture,  to ensure expections of FIVES Group and the customer are successfully satisfied.  Including compliance to current Australian standards.   Perform onsite supervision of sub-contractors during on-site installation work.
  • Manage engineering projects from conceptualisation though to completed design and development
  • Allocate Engineering Resources to specific projects, based on required skills set
  • Oversee all Engineering projects assigned, through regular communications with Project Managers
  • Management of sub-contractor design and manufacture,  to ensure requirements of FIVES Group and the customer are being met, including compliance to current Australian or international standards.  
  • Perform onsite supervision of sub-contractors during on-site installation work
  • Oversee and approve all invoicing of Projects prior to invoice being issued to the client

TRAINING & TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE (5%)

  • Develop knowledge in all aspects of ECL equipment (mechanical, electrical, automation) by implementing regular training for engineering team.
  • Develop increased autonomy from FIVES Group, by developing and supporting the localisation of spare parts, which can be manufactured in Australia with necessary approval
  • Develop tools and procedures to enable the procurement team to source local spares without engineering assistance when applicable
  • Provide technical assistance (both on-site and off) to key customers

HSEQ (5%)

  • Adhere to all policies and follow procedures as outlined within the HSEQ Management System

WORKSHOP (15%)

  • Responsible for planning, scheduling and execution of daily operations of the workshop to ensure that work/tasks are performed accurately and efficiently in conformance with established methods, instructions and quality standards.
  • Prepare all workshop reporting requirements including the review and analysis of workshop data, information, quality metrics, delivery estimates etc as per established timelines and Company policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant (internal and external) regulations including HSEQ requirements using Company policies and procedures as appropriate
  • Provides guidance and assistance to the workshop team

    •  Design, Assembly, Maintenance, Operation, Inspection, Development & Upgrade, Repair, Trouble Shooting.
    •  Clear and precise knowledge of applicable standards, regulations, codes of practise and best practice, Australian and world wide.
    •  Competancy applicable to all types of engineering components and systems used on FIVES Group equipment.

Generalised:

    1. Knowledge of  mechanical and structural design, drafting, fabrication and machining practises.
    2. Knowledge of  modern manufacturing process.
    3. Knowledge of project engineering practises and application.
