Technical Writer

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technical Writer will create and manage comprehensive product documentation to ensure standardization and support project-specific requirements across various departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with engineers to gather data for technical manuals.
- Maintain and update boilerplate templates for product documentation.
- Develop product manuals, including images, following best practices.
- Create visual content (line drawings/photos) using CAD or illustration software.
- Produce clear work instructions for assembly processes.
- Ensure timely completion of documentation with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Uphold document control practices to prevent conflicting information.
- Present information consistently with the company’s brand identity.
- Verify technical accuracy and adherence to grammar standards, including Simplified Technical English.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a technical writer, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and terminology.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings to the degree required for effective integration of information in the technical writing process
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Proficient in technical writing tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Adobe Technical Communication Suite, Microsoft Word).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, OSHA).
- Ability to create and edit visual content (e.g., CAD drawings, infographics).
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Valid driver’s license, ability to work in North American countries
- A valid passport (or the ability to obtain one) is required, as is the ability to obtain visas to visit foreign countries.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is a combination of normal office environment and manufacturing shop. Time will be spent in both locations. TRAVEL:
This position requires limited business travel by airplane, car, and/or train and public transportation. Overnight travel is estimated as less than 2% of the time.
