Introduction

Fives Intralogistics Corp is actively seeking a full-time Quality Technician to join its team in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Smart Automation Division of Fives specializes in providing smart, scalable, and future-proof solutions for sorting, handling and advanced automation.  The division has approximately 1,700 employees worldwide working in about 20 locations in Asia, Europe, and North America. 

Fives designs and supplies world-class material handling and sorting solutions for the Intralogistics sector to serve global leaders in the shipping industry such as Fed Ex, UPS and DHL. The Group and its Intralogistics dedicated teams - around 500 people in France, Italy, China, Japan, Korea and the United States - automate internal logistics streams for postal and courier companies, distribution centers, and baggage handling systems.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Technician is a three-tiered role (I, II, III) responsible for one or more of the following: inbound and outbound inspection, investigation and disposition of suspect material, and containment of rejected items. The position requires adaptability in a fast-paced setting, with both independent and team-oriented work. Technicians collaborate closely with Assembly, Logistics, and Engineering and must be eager to learn new tools, processes, and concepts. The role is part of the Supply Chain Team at Fives Intralogistics Corp. and reports to the Quality Supervisor.

 

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of inbound and outbound materials
  • Record findings from material returned from customer sites
  • Use measurement tools to verify products meet drawing specifications
  • Manage inventory on Quality Hold and determine appropriate disposition
  • Assist Assembly with material concerns and quality issues
  • Enter Non-Conforming Products in QT9
  • Sort inventory flagged as suspect
  • Identify mislabeled or unidentified parts
  • Manage internal gauge calibration, schedule external services, and maintain records in QT9
  • Use SAP to track movement of rejected and suspect materials

 

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this role successfully, candidates must meet the following requirements. Reasonable accommodations may be provided:

  • For Technician II: minimum 1 year in a Quality-related role; for Technician III: minimum 4 years (industry experience preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Proactive in raising quality concerns to leadership
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability
  • Familiarity with MRP and ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints (GD&T experience a plus)
  • Skilled in using mechanical measurement tools (e.g., calipers, bore gauges)
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and related standards preferred
  • Effective time and resource management

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Duties require frequent use of hands and arms, standing, walking, and occasional sitting, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Must be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs. Visual acuity includes close and distance vision with the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is split between an office and an assembly shop floor. Fives Intralogistics manufactures automated sorting equipment, and all employees follow established safety protocols. Accommodations may be available.

 

TRAVEL
Minimal travel required (<5%). Must be able to complete airplane trips of 10+ hours if needed.
