Operational Buyer 1
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Operational Buyer is a four-tiered position (Buyer I, Buyer II, Buyer III, Senior Buyer) that ranges from entry-level (Buyer I) to senior (Senior Operational Buyer). The Operational Buyer purchases materials, supplies, and services as directed by the SAP MRP system or purchase requisitions. The role is responsible for performing routine to difficult and complex procurement tasks. The Operational Buyer will issue purchase orders, ensure purchase order pricing and delivery dates are confirmed by suppliers, follow-up on open purchase orders, and resolve invoice and receiving discrepancies.
The role requires knowledge of material groups, e.g. weldments, fabrications, and/or commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components. The position will build and cultivate relationships with suppliers, other departments, and train others. The position will support Supply Chain initiatives and projects. This position requires experience, initiative, follow-through, and strong interpersonal skills.
The Operational Buyer is part of the Supply Chain Team for Fives Intralogistics Corp. and reports to the Supervisor of Operational Buyers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create purchase orders in SAP based on MRP demand or purchase requisition and issues purchase orders to suppliers.
- Ensure purchase order are acknowledged and confirmed by suppliers.
- Follow-up with suppliers on late purchase orders and update the organization / ERP system, contacting suppliers via phone, email, or in-person visit, as necessary.
- Contact suppliers to procure products & services and negotiate price and schedule, accordingly.
- Expedite purchase orders from order placement to delivery.
- Communicate current/potential supply performance problems (capacity imbalance, noncompliant material, material shortage, supplier delays, etc.).
- Support Supply Chain smart automation and other initiatives, as needed.
- Develop strong supplier relationships and ensure quality, delivery, and pricing expectations are met.
- Support onboarding of new suppliers and maintenance of existing Suppliers in SAP, as needed.
- Reschedule planned material according to changes. Document all part shortages and parts requiring schedule changes from suppliers.
- Negotiate with suppliers and comply with supply agreements, as needed.
- Reinforce Fives Intralogistics Corp. Core Values and drive process improvement activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or similar area of study is preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years (for Buyer I) or minimum of five (5) years (for Senior Buyer) of experience in a buying role is preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years (for Buyer I) or minimum of five (5) years (for Senior Buyer) experience with major MRP software such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or Information Systems is preferred.
- APICS certification (CSCP, CPIM or related) or ISM certification (CPSM) is preferred.
- Experience with and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is preferred.
- Ability to manage time effectively with a strong attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings/prints, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, or organization.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

TRAVEL:
This position requires limited business travel by airplane, car, and/or train and public transportation. International travel is also anticipated. The candidate must be capable of completing airplane trips of 10 or more hours. Overnight travel is estimated as <2% of the time.
