Director of Supply Chain Development
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Supply Chain Development will be responsible for Supplier Management, Category Management, ERP Integrity, Equipment Onshoring and Supply Chain Planning.
This is a leadership role responsible for developing and executing strategies to acquire goods and services, optimizing costs, and ensuring a reliable supply chain. This role involves managing a team, building supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and driving continuous improvement in supply chain processes.
This role provides a crucial link between Sales, Engineering, Purchasing & Procurement, Quality, Assembly, Operations, Service and Finance.
The direct reports for this position currently include Category Managers, a Supply Chain Supervisor, an SAP Analyst, a Cost Engineer and a New Product Implementation Manager. It is anticipated that this team will grow to include Data Analytics and Demand Planner Roles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and motivate a team of professionals, providing guidance, performance management, and development opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and negotiating favorable contract terms.
- Develop and implement strategies that align with the organization's overall business objectives, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and risk mitigation.
- Identify opportunities to reduce procurement costs through strategic sourcing initiatives, competitive bidding, and value engineering.
- Lead complex contract negotiations with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions and managing contractual agreements.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with sourcing activities, developing contingency plans to address potential disruptions.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to costs, supplier performance, and contract compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of supply chain processes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement policies, regulations, and ethical guidelines.
- Advise other departments of changes in pricing or procedure and on restriction of materials which would prohibit purchase. Keep interested departments advised with respect to lead time.
- Coordinate and plan materials requirements for new product introductions, including review of new BOM’s and cut-in dates for assembly verification and production units.
- Develop and maintain Forecast, master schedule and procurement plan based on history, seasonality and sales opportunities. Improve forecasting tools and procedures through application of innovative ideas and projects. Review and update forecast, production schedules and material requirements.
- Establish, lead, and align departmental goals and objectives with those of the organization
- Identify and evaluate procurement risks for projects and develop contingency plans.
- Lead, monitor and report continuous improvement in cost reduction, productivity, quality, supplier delivery and business processes
- Overall management of supplier relationships to ensure supplier quality and performance.
- Support all business units and functional areas through participation in business reviews, production meetings, turnover meetings, design reviews, customer meetings, and providing information as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor degree in business, engineering, supply chain operations, or similar areas of study is strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership experience leading individuals and teams to achieve results.
- 5+ years’ experience with MRP scheduling and management in an ERP Business System. SAP Preferred.
- Continuous Improvement Track Record.
- Comprehend common commercial terms and language relative to T&C and customer contract documents.
- Ability to read and interpret customer specifications and technical drawings (equipment assembly/fabrication, plant layout, electrical schematics, etc.) to the degree required for effective interaction in the sales process.
- Verbal communication skills commensurate with those of an experienced professional.
- Mathematic and statistical analysis skills.
- Candidate is capable of arriving at rational conclusion based on available data/facts, including instances wherein all pertinent facts are not known.
- ASCM / ISM and Six Sigma training are preferred.
