Fives Landis Ltd. is actively seeking an Engineering Apprentice to join its teams in Cross Hills, West Yorkshire, UK.

Fives Landis Ltd, a subsidiary of the Fives Group, is a manufacturer of high-precision cylindrical and special grinding machines. Historically, we supplied the automotive and ship-building industries, and more recently, we are also diversifying into the Electric Vehicle and Optics markets. We are based in Cross Hills, West Yorkshire and have an Innovation Centre in Bedford. 

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Engineering Apprentice.

This is a 4-year, Level 3 apprenticeship programme designed to develop the skills and knowledge required for a career in manufating and engineering. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will gain hands-on experience across multiple disciplines and departments, with the potential to specialise in one of the following areas:

  • Assembly Fitting
  • Machining
  • Electrical Assembly

What You’ll Do

  • Work alongside experienced engineers to develop practical skills.
  • Learn to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Assist in the assembly, manufacture, and maintenance of components and systems and/or learn how to operate CNC milling/lathe machines. 
  • Gain experience across mechanical and electrical engineering functions.
  • Follow health & safety procedures and engineering best practices.

Training & Development

As part of the apprenticeship:

  • You will attend Keighley College on a day release basis
  • You will work towards a Level 3 Engineering qualification
  • You will receive structured on-the-job training within our business

What We’re Looking For

  • A genuine interest in engineering and how things work.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and Science are desirable
  • Level 2 engineering or experience working in an engineering environment is an advantage.
