Compensation: 

Located in the High Precision Sub Assembly Department and the General Machine Assembly Department, the Machine Tool Fitter will be responsible for the following:

  • Assembly of high precision sub-assemblies and machine tools (High Precision Grinding Machines).
  • Sub-assembly refurbishment, rebuild and repairs supporting Aftermarket requirements.
  • Final preparation of high precision components to ensure readiness for final assembly.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Assemble and test high precision machine tool sub-assemblies to engineering drawing specifications.
  • Assemble high precision machine tools (Grinding Machines) in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • General machine build from bed down to handover to the inspection team.
  • Strip legacy sub-assemblies returned by customers for refurbishment or repair, create fault reports and replacement parts lists, then re-assemble.
  • Understand, and work at all times in line with Fives Values and Directives; specifically following the highest standards of health and safety.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Data Protection, Information Security and Cyber Security.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested.

 

Key skills requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Machine Tool Fitter, Mechanical Fitter or similar.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and fluidic schematics (E-Plan).
  • Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and ability to hand bend small bore pipework.
  • Understanding of precision assembly techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude and attention to detail with a focus on maintaining quality standards.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Able to manage own time and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work alone or part of a team.
