Position Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for managing all activities associated with a customer's purchase order, from receipt of the order through final acceptance at the customer's location and final payment.

Serving as the single point of contact, the Project Manager coordinates activities across Fives' cross-functional departments and maintains a direct line of communication between the customer and Fives. This role is responsible for project scheduling, budget management, risk mitigation, milestone tracking, customer communication, installation coordination, acceptance testing, and overall project execution.

The successful candidate will bring strong project management, technical, organizational, and communication skills, along with experience working in a fast-paced advanced manufacturing environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Validate that the customer's purchase order and internal order documentation are consistent and coordinate alignment when required.
  • Analyze and evaluate project risks and develop and direct appropriate risk-reduction activities.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive project schedule for each assigned project, from the date of order through product acceptance and final payment.
  • Track all project milestone payments.
  • Obtain schedule alignment and buy-in from all functional areas involved in the project.
  • Manage project budgets and implementation plans throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Interface directly with management regarding project status, direction, bottlenecks, risks, and required actions.
  • Provide verbal reports and overall project information as needed to support daily operational reviews.
  • Serve as the primary point of communication between the customer and Fives.
  • Coordinate communications and visits between Fives and subcontractors.
  • Maintain project schedules and reporting systems that accurately reflect project progress and provide updates to the customer's Project Manager.
  • Coordinate customer run-off activities at Fives Cincinnati.
  • Provide comprehensive coordination and follow-up for customer questions, concerns, and needs.
  • Track engineering, assembly, run-off, and delivery dates.
  • Develop and coordinate recovery plans when projects deviate from established schedules or objectives.
  • Review engineering designs related to installation and coordinate required approvals.
  • Coordinate the efforts of various Fives divisions and subcontractors during final assembly of project components.
  • Establish and coordinate shipping dates that support the timely flow of equipment into the customer's facility and facilitate an efficient, manageable installation.
  • Coordinate and supervise the installation and debugging of equipment at the customer's facility.
  • Coordinate customer-site acceptance testing according to established procedures and agreements in collaboration with the Installation Supervisor.
  • Coordinate project training requirements with Customer Service.
  • Assess the successes, challenges, and lessons learned from each project.
  • Identify and assist in developing new policies, procedures, routines, and systems required to support projects and improve future project execution.
  • Proactively promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
  • Occasionally travel to customer sites to meet with stakeholders and provide on-site project support.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school, or two to four years of similar or related experience preferred.
  • Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus but is not required.
  • Two to four years of similar or related experience in a fast-paced advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience coordinating projects across multiple functional areas.
  • Experience managing project schedules, deliverables, risks, and customer requirements.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Salesforce, preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Strong technical understanding and the ability to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, installation, and customer-facing teams.
  • Ability to organize, interpret, and effectively present project data and status information.
