Position Summary

The Electrical Wiring Technician is responsible for wiring machine tool products and assembling electrical power panels to meet design specifications, customer expectations, and company quality standards. This position performs electrical installations, panel builds, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and repair activities while supporting safe and efficient manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment.
• Perform machine electrical installations of electrical components on machine tool products, including power tracks, electrical cabinets, pendants, conduits, fittings, switches, motors, transformers, lighting, controls, and power circuits.
• Build and assemble high- and low-voltage electrical power panels utilizing electrical schematics, including component layout, wiring, testing, assembly, and installation.
• Install electrical devices by interpreting mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, vendor documentation, and assembly work instructions.
• Perform electrical testing using volt-ohm meters, amp meters, and other diagnostic tools to verify voltage, continuity, and electrical characteristics.
• Connect and disconnect temporary power sources to machine tool products as required.
• Follow established wiring work instructions and support adherence to standardized processes.
• Collaborate with team members to identify best practices and recommend improvements to wiring procedures and work instructions.
• Disassemble or disconnect electrical components to support inspection, shipment, rebuilding, or replacement activities.
• Utilize soldering equipment to assemble and repair electrical cables, connectors, components, and circuit boards.
• Replace bulbs, fuses, switches, and other electrical components on machine tools and related equipment.
• Document wiring corrections and maintain accurate records in accordance with company documentation standards.
• Identify and report unusual conditions, defective materials, or potential code violations to supervision.
• Maintain compliance with applicable electrical codes, ISO requirements, and company safety procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence efforts.
• Travel occasionally to customer facilities to support wiring-related activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical training in electrical systems, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred.

Experience

• Three or more years of related electrical wiring, panel building, industrial assembly, or electrical technician experience preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing, machine tool, industrial equipment, or automation environment preferred.

Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of electrical wiring concepts and practices.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Experience with electrical panel assembly and component installation.
• Knowledge of electrical testing equipment and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to safely use volt-ohm meters and other diagnostic instruments.
• Proficiency in soldering small electrical connectors and components.
• Familiarity with industrial electrical components, controls, transformers, switches, and motors.
• Ability to use common hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Knowledge of English and metric measurements preferred.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.

Travel Requirements

• Up to 10% travel may be required to customer facilities.
