Scope and Responsibilities:

The position is for an Electrical Project Engineer at Fives Cincinnati.  This person will have the responsibilities of creating, supporting, and maintaining electrical designs for OEM equipment, which utilize gantry and robotic manipulators, and their peripheral equipment.

 

Description of Typical Duties:

  • Regularly use Solidworks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD package.
  • Develop machine control hardware within TIA Portal environments or similar.
  • Create machine bills of materials (BOM) that include electrical cables, electrical devices, power panels, sensors and other electrical hardware required for each machine build.
  • Continuously improve electrical system performance and increase system functionality and efficiency.
  • Participate in cross-functional design reviews.
  • Troubleshoot electro-mechanical and software issues.
  • Lead design reviews both internal and with end customers
  • Prepare hazard analysis and FMEA reports.
  • Present concisely written reports and e-mails effectively using Microsoft Office.
  • Work well in a team and with minimal supervision.
  • Create technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, dealing with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with multi axis servo systems design, motion control systems, and robotic interfaces.
  • Experience with sensor interfaces, IO, fieldbus, and related technology.
  • Experience with integrating machine safety systems.
  • Experience with electrical quality systems and processes.
  • Experience in SAP

 

Position Details:

  • Education: B.S. degree from a 4-year college or university.  3-10 years design, analysis, or test experience.  Demonstrated success in application of engineering principles.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent residency status (green card).
  • Travel will be less than 10%.
  • Pay is commensurate with level of relevant experience.
