Electrical Designer
At Fives, we all play a role in advancing industry and shaping the future of manufacturing. As an Electrical Designer, you will be a key contributor in designing, integrating, and supporting industrial automation systems from concept through commissioning.
What you’ll do:
- Design and integrate electrical systems for industrial automation projects
- Develop clear, well-organized electrical schematics using AutoCAD
- Lay out power cabinets, select electrical components, and size conductors for feeder and branch circuits
- Apply sound electrical design practices in compliance with NEC codes and regulations
- Create and maintain organized project documentation, including drawing templates, title blocks, drawing lists, and bills of material
- Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, purchasing, electricians, and assembly technicians to optimize system design and performance
- Partner with engineering leadership and finance to develop project schedules and support bid proposals
- Develop Supplier Scope of Work (SSOW) documents for electrical contractors when required
- Provide project leadership and coordination as needed
- Interface directly with customers during commissioning, acceptance testing, system delivery, and post-installation support
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 1–3 years of engineering experience preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is a plus
- Knowledge of servo systems, VFDs, Ethernet networks, PLCs, and HMI programming
- Experience with 480 VAC, 120 VAC, three-phase, and 24 VDC power distribution systems
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to anticipate issues and propose effective solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to take initiative and grow
