Position Summary

 

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager is responsible for leading and executing core accounting operations across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, and Tax for Fives Machining Systems North America. This role supports multiple business units, including Giddings & Lewis, Cincinnati, Machine Tool Services & Solutions (MTSS), and AddUp, while ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, efficient working capital management, and compliance with U.S. GAAP, tax regulations, and Fives Group accounting standards. The Accounting Manager partners closely with finance and operational leadership to standardize processes, improve cash flow performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.



Key Responsibilities

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment.
  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, and Tax support functions.
  • Oversee vendor management, invoice processing, payment cycles, billing, collections, dispute resolution, and cash management activities.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial transactions and supporting documentation.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Drive improvements in Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), Days Payables Outstanding (DPO), and overall working capital performance.
  • Partner with operations and project teams to improve billing processes, collections performance, and cash flow management.
  • Manage daily cash visibility, short-term cash forecasting, and liquidity planning activities.
  • Maintain relationships with banking partners in coordination with Fives Group Treasury.
  • Oversee cash positioning, fund transfers, bank reconciliations, payment controls, and authorization processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Fives treasury policies, internal controls, and financial governance requirements.
  • Coordinate with external advisors and Group Tax regarding federal, state, local, sales, and use tax compliance activities.
  • Support internal, external, and tax audits while ensuring documentation readiness and compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP and Fives Group accounting directives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements across accounting, treasury, and financial operations.
  • Support automation initiatives, including ERP enhancements, workflow optimization, and digital approval processes.
  • Drive standardization and consistency across multiple business units and legal entities.
  • Strengthen internal controls and reduce manual processes through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support multiple profit and loss structures while ensuring consistent accounting treatment and reporting practices.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial information, reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting support to finance leadership and business unit leaders.
  • Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and accounting staff.
  • Establish performance expectations, provide feedback, and support employee development initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment with company policies, procedures, compliance requirements, and best practices.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.



Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA certification preferred.

 

Experience

  • Five to eight or more years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, or team management experience preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, project-based, or engineered products environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-site accounting operations preferred.

 

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, treasury operations, and internal controls.
  • Knowledge of cash management, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization.
  • Experience with financial close processes, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Experience with federal, state, and local tax compliance requirements.
  • ERP system experience required; SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience supporting process automation, workflow improvements, and financial system enhancements.
