Accountability:

The purpose of this position is to provide sound leadership and mentoring to ensure the transfer of technical knowledge, as well as to ensure that quality standards, cost requirements, schedule and customer requirements are met. This includes coordinating and implementing the most effective methods of completing logistical tasks. This position promotes employee accountability in project execution.

Scope and Responsibilities:

Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Proactively maintains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
  • Plan, organize and direct the activities of shipping, receiving, carpenter shop and paint shop.
  • Coordinate delivery of parts to the machine shop, assembly, and other facility areas as necessary to meet schedules.
  • Monitor proper preparation and coordination of customer shipments while adhering to time and cost schedules.
  • Be the first point of contact for assembly & wiring part shortages.
  • Provide technical support to direct employees, assist in problem solving and Root Cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with assembly on part presentation in the unit and main assembly build stalls.
  • Improve and monitor VMI part racking process.
  • Supervise the carpenter shop and paint shop teams to optimize cost and schedule requirements.
  • Supervise shipping & receiving group to assure smooth part flow to support both internal and external customers.
  • Order materials and tools for the team.
  • Complete weekly ASRS backups.
  • Improve efficiency and flow within the shipping and receiving areas.
  • Verify inventory level accuracy in support of audits and cycle counts.
  • Monitor and recommend improvements to equipment used in responsible areas.
  • Support business Kaizan events to drive out waste and rework.
  • Create and maintain work instructions and process documentation for shipping, receiving, carpenter shop and paint shop.
  • Responsible for following proper hazmat shipment processes.
  • Responsible for employee reviews and development in responsible areas.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Education/Certification:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school

Experience:

  • Four to six years of relevant experience working in or managing a storeroom or logistics environment, carpenter shop and/or paint shop.  Experience loading and scheduling trucks.  Experience managing and/or training hourly employees; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products and SAP/MRP systems
  • Ability to lead and develop individuals in logistics storeroom environment
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate in front of and to all levels of the business
  • Able to hold individuals and groups accountable for project execution
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities quickly and effectively
