Summary:

  • The Project Manager is responsible for directing major and minor projects from receipt of customer order to final customer acceptance.  They may also be involved in the front-end planning and quotation stages as well to help determine costs and production schedules.  The Project Manager is the main point of contact for the customer for the project. 

Scope and Responsibilities:

Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Interfaces with the appropriate sales/application engineer to verify the proper content and organization of the project, establishment of schedule, development of acknowledgments and establishment of other requirements of this project.
  • Directs and follows-up on all phases of the project with various departments, divisions, suppliers, etc.
  • Provides liaison efforts and follows-up to ensure that all phases of the project are met, including all milestones associated with progress payments.
  • Manages projects to meet planned profit margin, schedule and specifications.
  • Provides regular schedule updates to customer.
  • Facilitates with sales and the customer the proper pricing and documentation of all changes in the content of the project.
  • Ensures that all appropriate verbal and written reports, schedules and documentation are provided to the customer and the internal organization.  Provides a single line of communication between the customer and Fives Giddings & Lewis.
  • When assigned, leads the Risk Assessment effort on a specific project(s).
  • Coordinates the Lessons Learned process for assigned projects.
  • Assists with manpower/capacity plans to support the project requirements.
  • Coordinates resolution of project issues.
  • Occasional travel to customer facilities is required.
  • Awareness of ISO 9001 and 14001 policies and procedures.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Degree from two or four-year college or university or equivalent experience and five years Project Management experience preferably in a durable goods industry. 

Skills Required:

  • MRP / Business system experience (SAP preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written
  • Ability to present data effectively
  • Strong electrical and / or mechanical competency required
  • International business communications and cultural experience a plus
