Summary:

This position is responsible to service shop production needs for assembly operations.  Provides technical support to assembly production by developing process documentation, designing tooling and fixturing, and troubleshooting issues on the shop floor.

Scope and Responsibilities:

Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Document and maintain work instructions.
  • Define and identify tooling required to support assembly operations.
  • Design of custom fixtures and tooling as required.
  • Performs detailed analysis to assembly processes.
  • Supports both current and new product builds.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and quality teams to support assembly process and drive improvements.
  • Troubleshoot assembly and design related issues, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions via NCR System.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized working environment.
  • Identify and implement safety improvements on the shop floor.
  • Recommend and support changes to improve departmental efficiency.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering, or completion of a relevant apprenticeship program preferred.  2-5 years experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment.
  • Practical hands-on assembly or machining experience a plus.

 

Skills Required:

  • Use of NX or experience with other 3D design software.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, including cross-sectional views.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Teams).
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management and shop personnel.
  • Solid math skills, including the practical application of basic algebra and trigonometry.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities and processes.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a sense of urgency when addressing critical issues.
  • ISO 9001 & 14001 awareness & compliance.
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills.
