Electrical Designer I
Accountability:
Electrical Designer 1 for metal cutting machine tool products. Under general supervision responsible for developing electrical designs including machine and control schematics, cable assembly charts, electrical assembly drawings and bills-of-material accurately, economically, on schedule and in accordance with Giddings & Lewis and industry standards. In addition, perform other duties as assigned by manager, provide technical support for the sales, manufacturing, and service of company products.
Scope and Responsibilities:
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

- Meet engineering project or machine release schedules completing designs, details, parts lists, and other relative information on schedule.
- Contributes to enhancing company product performance and reliability.
- Provide accurate drawings according to Giddings & Lewis and industry engineering standards.
- Responsible for the complete electrical design encompassing collaboration with mechanical engineers, electrical schematic development, power cabinet design and layout, component selection, and machine cable routing.
- Assists in the design and development of CNC hardware applications, integrating third-party CNC hardware and control concepts while utilizing third-party software programs.
- Effective collaboration with control vendors on new product development, control packing and machine integration.
- Provides design and engineering assistance to various internal teams, including Mechanical Engineering, Test Engineering, Training, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, and Technical Service.
- Develops specifications and documentation for electrical designs, facilitating clear communication and training within the design engineering group.
- Maintains current knowledge of new control methods, designs, industry standards, and electrical codes.
- Improves overall company and engineering efficiency and effectiveness by participation in special assignments and projects.
- Becomes knowledgeable and proficient in the use of company and industry standards.
- Becomes knowledgeable and proficient in the use of PLM(Agile) and ERP (SAP) systems.
- ISO 9001 & 14001 awareness and compliance.
Education/Certification:
- Associate degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology from a two-year college or university or equivalent in proven experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent residency status (green card).
Experience:
- Associate degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology or 3 – 5 years related experience.

- Ability to understand sensor interfaces and technology.
- Ability to understand CNC applications.
- Ability to interpret and understand electrical standards – NFPA 79, UL 508A, IEC 60204-1
- EPLAN P8 or equivalent design skills with adherence to Engineering standards, guidelines, and practices is a plus.
- 2D CAD design skills with AutoCAD with adherence to Engineering standards, guidelines, and practices is a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word skills.
