Will be responsible for overseeing transactions related to 1) exporting commodities, technology, and software from the U.S. in accordance with U.S. export laws, and 2) importing commodities into the U.S. incompliance with U.S. Customs import laws. 

This position requires an on-going understanding of the related U.S. regulations, including the following:

  • U.S. Department of Commerce Export Administration Regulations (EAR),
  • The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR),
  • CFR Title 19
  • The Fives Group compliance policies

Scope and Responsibilities:

Supervise a Customs and Logistics team, providing training and support such as:

  • Classifying commodities, technology, and software in accordance with the EAR Commodity Control List (CCL), and the ITAR Munitions List.
  • Classifying commodities and software in accordance with the USITC Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
  • Preparing and submitting BIS EAR or DDTC ITAR export license applications when required.
  • Arranging shipments per the terms of the clients’ or suppliers’ contracts, schedules, and the Incoterm.
  • Direct contact with clients and suppliers.
  • Managing freight service providers throughout the transactions, including rate/booking requests, and processing the services payments within the internal accounts payable system.
  • Preparing all required customs and transport documents, including letter of credit bank negotiations per UCP rules.
  • Submitting the Automated Export System Electronic Export Information (AES EEI) filings to U.S. Customs and Border Protection via CBP ACE.
  • Reviewing dangerous goods before arranging transport in accordance with DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations.
  • Coordinating bi-annual dangerous goods training sessions
  • Coordinating ocean marine cargo insurance claims.
  • Maintaining internal records in accordance with all U.S. regulations.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or hold U.S. Permanent Residency Status

Education and Experience:

Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills:

Intermediate to advanced knowledge of EAR, ITAR, CFR Title 19 Imports

Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft EXCEL and WORD.

Intermediate knowledge of SAP Business System
