Junior Finance Assistant

Scope of the role:

The Junior Finance Assistant will provide efficient, accurate, and timely administrative support to the Finance team, whilst developing an understanding of how a Finance department operates in the Manufacturing industry

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist with the Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger and resolve queries with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting monthly and quarterly stock counts across departments.
  • Assisting with month-end closing processes: P&L and balance sheet postings, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Create graphs and charts to illustrate technical reports using computer spreadsheets.
  • Providing general support to the finance team on day-to-day tasks.
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Understand, and work at all times in line with Fives Values and Directives; specifically following the highest standards of health and safety.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Data Protection, Information Security and Cyber Security.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested.

 

Key skills requirements:

  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Able to manage own time and meet tight deadlines.
  • A basic understanding of financial and accounting principles. Two years of experience in a junior finance role is desirable but not essential.
  • An understanding of month-end/year-end processes and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
  • Experience with SAP is desirable, but not essential.
  • Minimum of a grade C or above in A-Level Mathematics, or a BTEC qualification in Mathematics (or equivalent).
