Fives North American Combustion, Inc. is hiring a Full Time Mechanical Assembler to join our team in Cleveland, OH.

At Fives, we all have a part to play in achieving our common mission. Your role will be:

  • Products may include small products, light subassemblies, and/or complete units of a smaller size.
  • Loads and unloads previously set up machines, such as arbor presses, drill presses, taps, spot-welding machines, riveting machines, milling machines, or broaches, to perform fastening, force fitting, or light metal-cutting operations.
  • May be assigned to different workstations as production needs require or shift to reduce fatigue.
  • May assist skilled operators or work at a bench assembling specific parts.
  • May repair units that fail to meet specifications.
  • Operates production line equipment requiring specified training or assembles larger, heavier, or more complex products.
  • Mounts and connects auxiliary, mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, or hydraulic equipment; cuts and fits pipe and tubing.
  • Removes small quantities of metal using hand files or portable grinders.
  • Drills, taps, or reams holes using drill press or portable drill.
  • Aligns components and fastens them using hand tools or portable powered tools.
  • Installs moving parts and tests for free movement.
  • May bend and install pipe for hydraulic systems or align and mesh gears in gearboxes.
  • May operate drill presses, punch presses, or riveting machines.
  • May test or assist in testing completed products.
  • Pulls parts for products based on bills of material.
  • Assembles, tests, and maintains product documentation.
  • Uses basic hand, electric, and pneumatic tools.
  • Operates tow motors and other electric vehicles safely.
  • Works individually or as part of a team to ensure quality and on-time completion.
  • Uses overhead cranes to lift, move, and manipulate larger parts.
  • Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean, orderly work areas.
  • Adheres to quality standards and inspects products to meet customer and company requirements.
  • Some computer skills required.

  • Previous experience in manufacturing or assembly environment
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and assembly instructions
  • Experience using basic hand tools and small machinery
  • Experience using overhead cranes and hoists preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude required to diagnose and solve problems that arise during manufacturing processes
  • Experience using a tow motor is preferred
