Engineering Co-Op

Compensation: 

This Co-Op would work with the AddUp engineering team to learn and refine skill sets like material testing/development, design for additive manufacturing, and general problem solving and apply them to real projects that utilize Laser Powder Bed Fusion.  They would regularly work on project-specific material characterization as well as a short capstone project in their downtime. 

Degree Program:

  • Must be pursuing a 4-year degree in materials, mechanical, or metallurgical engineering (or equivalent)
  • Has completed at least 1-3 years of that degree program

Coursework:

  • Required: Introduction to Materials (Structures/Properties of Materials), Engineering Math/Calculus 1, Introduction to Chemistry, and a laboratory class (all of these or equivalent)
  • Desired: Material Testing Principles/Lab, Metallography, Physics, Thermodynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Basic Design Principles

Skills (not all required, but a plus):

  • Metallography and optical microscopy
  • Material testing
    • Tensile
    • Hardness
    • Roughness
    • Microstructure
    • Etc.
  • Good written/oral communication skills
  • Additive manufacturing experience
  • Traditional manufacturing experience
  • Welding experience
  • Hand tools
  • Design principles (DFM/DFAM)
  • SolidWorks or equivalent
  • Dimensional testing experience (calipers, micrometers, blue light scanning)
  • Technical presentations/communication
