Contexte

Fives Services inc. a subsidiary of the Fives Group, Aluminium division and world leader in sales of equipment for aluminum plants, is a Quebec company specializing in the sale and maintenance of lifting equipment. It is active in the metalworking, mining, paper and other industries. Fives Services has offices in Quebec City, Saguenay and the Toronto area.

 

Main mission

The electrical engineer’s mission is to provide technical support and services in the design, planning, study, evaluation and testing and commissioning of Fives equipment or other equipment.

 

Tasks :

 

• Complete the design and dimensioning of various electrical systems (power, control and automation) for Fives equipment, cranes and other industrial equipment.

 

• Modernize, optimize and ensure regulatory compliance of electrical installations on Fives equipment, cranes and other industrial equipment.

 

• Search for locally available electrical components to validate replacement of obsolete components.

 

• Technically and punctually supervise the work of electrical design technicians according to the involvement in the projects.

 

• Provide technical support to suppliers and offer technical support to internal and external customers.

 

• Actively participate in the development of the engineering department by improving our tools and methods.

 

• Perform equipment start-up work in the shop and plant.

 

• Participate in the preparation of tenders by developing preliminary concepts, estimating required study hours and writing technical descriptions of proposed solutions.

 

• Manage small projects (quality, time and cost monitoring)

 

• Travel to customer sites for assessments and commissioning.

 

 

Education & qualifications

 

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering

• Member of the PEO; Professional Engineers Ontario

• 5 years of industrial experience.

• Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.

• Knowledge of machine safety standards including CSA Z432

• Experience with lifting equipment (an asset).

• Ability to speak French (an asset).

• Knowledge of Rockwell’s Studio 5000 (RsLogix) PLC programming software and Factory Talk View (an asset).

• Knowledge of CCW, Zélio Soft and VMware Workstation software (an asset).

• Hold a G class driver’s licence.
